Façade
We stand align in a pew
tapping an oxford shoe
to the rhythm of the praise
imaging we’re in the place His flocks will graze
But you don’t smell it on his breath
or see the lines from her stress
you don’t know the pressure I’m under
you don’t hear the storm
or feel the thunder
that’s shaking what I stand on
and changing what I planned on
We are so good at pretending
you’d never know it, we hardly show it
working like professionals
giving our testimonials
acting like everything is okay
when all we need to do is obey
YHWH
I’m sick of it
I take down the façade
revealing my face
revealing my faith
revealed is my salvation
which is through Christ alone
Now the storm is raging
but the thunder… its changing
it’s no dull rumble
nor an ignorable grumble
it’s a loud bang that’s releasing my chains
“For I know the plans I have for you,” He says
Great Plans he has in store
for those who don’t ignore
who take down their façade
and accept him as a lightning rod
begs to be struck from above
Can you give up your lives
for the one who
didn’t need the strain
who took on your pain
He didn’t do it for fame
For though I was lost
He redeemed me on that cross
my foundation He shook
when those three nails he took
So here I am
giving him my all
not afraid if I fall
for I know His arms will catch me
no evil can ever get me
now in the façade’s place
tattooed on my face
is the proof of His grace
For narrow is this path
I plan to stay on it
leaving my sins upon it
created by His son who was the chosen one
the bridge I cross may teeter
but “sin will never beat her”
My faith will stay in place
all masks swept from my face
I gave it up to God
and He cleared my façade.
'Agape' is the Greek word for love. Specifically, the love for God. Therefore it is appropriate to use 'agape' to describe this poetry. This is Christ-inspired. This is spoken word.
About Me

- Agape Love Poetry
- Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
