Search My Heart
Rip out my heart, Lord
and look closely at each part
find the ones that reflect
the requirements I should have met
I’m struggling to find them myself
I’ve exhausted all the resources on my shelf.
Praying and searching and praying some more
I feel like a statue stuck on a shore
watching waves come crashing down
the same one each time
a repetitive sound
lapping at my feet
with a rhythm and a beat
Little reminders of the life I should lead
but never enough to make me bleed
just little nudges here and there
never much to make me scared
Lets say I’m not looking for a small wave
but the power of a tsunami
its weight falling upon me
something that slaps my face
and reminds me of my place
So rip out my heart
originally, its your work of art
twist it with the power of that tsunami
until you see what it is
that’s still good inside me
Keep it safe with you, away from toil
in your arms where I can not soil
whatever I have left
before the rest of me
poisons what was best in me
'Agape' is the Greek word for love. Specifically, the love for God. Therefore it is appropriate to use 'agape' to describe this poetry. This is Christ-inspired. This is spoken word.
About Me

- Agape Love Poetry
- Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
